Karen's started linedancing way back in 1987 in Havant , Hampshire. 'The Buffaloes' were an Native American Reenactment group raising funding for local charities. On alternate weeks we would learn and teach 'American Line Dance'. The group still runs but only as a live act venue.
On moving to Dorset in 1995, Karen began looking for a way to meet people and share her love of line dancing and its country music origins. Finding there was none, a group of new found friends encouraged her to start a new club. this was 'Chasing Lines' and a new adventure began....
So the group evolved. After moving to Bournemouth, Karen rebranded the club & 'Dorset Mavericks' was launched in January 2016. We moved to our new home in Kinson in January 2017 & the club continues to grow with new members still joining our happy group.
Through our friendship we socialise 'outside' of dancing too.
We have close links with live acts. local & national line dance groups and choreographers. Plus we support our local community too. We fundraise for MacMillan Local as our chosen charity.
Recently we have already welcomed 'Souls n Stones', Peter 'Pedro' Barlow, Cliff Weston, Chris Kenwood Ryan Payling & Billy 'Bubba' King.
